Allows you to start S-PLUS in a variety of configurations using the same syntax on Unix and Windows.
This is useful for simulations and other computer-intensive but predetermined
tasks. This must be run from
a UNIX shell prompt.
USAGE:
Splus START [options]
OPTIONAL ARGUMENTS:
--help
prints this message
-j
enable java
-e
enable command line editing.
-g
enable GUI (NOTE: deprecated in S-PLUS 8.1.)
-w|--workbench
use workbench
--headless
enable headless mode
--cwd directory
change to this
directory before any processing.
--input file
read input from
file
--output file
send output to
file
--logfile file
write session log to
file
--appendlog
append to log file (the default is to overwrite)
--work directory
use
directory for working database
(where=1), making it if needed.
--background
run S-PLUS in the background (returning immediately)
--newwork
make new, randomly named directory for working database
--noclean
do not remove the new randomly named directory used for working database
--newworkparent dir
directory in which to make the new randomly named working database. The default is the directory in which S-PLUS generally makes temporary files,
dirname(tempfile()).
--echo
echo command lines to output (sets
options(echo=T)). This is the default.
--quiet
do not print copyright and version messages at startup
--noquiet
print copyright and version messages at startup (the default)
--verbose
echo verbose logging information to output (sets
options(verbose=T)).
--quitonerror
terminate immediately on engine error. Default is to continue through error.
--nobigdata
do not load bigdata library.
--bigdata
load bigdata library, adding
-j if needed (Unix only)
--vanilla
do not run user-defined startup scripts or functions. The
--work directory is ignored.
--exec sh command
treat the remainder of the arguments as a
sh command
name=value
will be added to environment so
getenv("name") returns
value. Note there must be no spaces between
name and
value.
NOTE:
The
Splus program is case sensitive, and the word
START needs to be in all
capital letters. This must be run from a
UNIX shell prompt
to execute.
WARNING:
Execution begins immediately after
START is invoked.
If you are on a UNIX system,
you may want to put
START in the background
or use the UNIX
at (or
chron) command to delay execution.
