optional indication of what kind of database. By default,
search
returns the names of the databases (for chapters, the chapter directory;
for S-PLUS libraries, the simple name such as
stat). To get full path
names of the actual directories, supply
what="paths". Other values are
interpreted as meta-data codes (see
metaDataCode); for example,
"methods"
or
"help".
VALUE:
character vector whose elements are the names of all the chapters and other
databases currently in the search list. Databases are always identified by
the names used when they were attached. These names can be used in all the
typical functions allowing a
where argument such as
get or
objects.
Remember, however, that this is not the search list itself; that is, the list
of all the S objects attached. Use the
what argument to get full path
names, or more generally
database.object(where) to get the actual object
corresponding to search position
where.
The entries produced by
search
and
database.object(where)
may or may not include a final
.Data
or
_Data
.
Use
database.path to ensure consistency.
