Halibut Data
SUMMARY:
A list containing two time series,
annual catch per unit effort (CPUE),
and exploitable biomass of Pacific halibut
for the years 1935 through 1989.
The list has the following components:
ARGUMENTS:
- cpue
-
the catch per unit effort in pounds of halibut per skate.
A skate is 1800 feet of line with baited hooks attached at 18 foot intervals.
The data are independent observations.
- biomass
-
an estimate of the exploitable biomass in millions of pounds.
The time series is estimated from a nonlinear least squares fit to
annual measures of catch stratified by age and total effort.
