Add New Replicates to Bootstrap Object

DESCRIPTION:

Updates a bootstrap object by adding replicates.

USAGE:

addSamples(object, B.add=100)

REQUIRED ARGUMENTS:

object
object of class bootstrap.

OPTIONAL ARGUMENTS:

B.add
number of additional replicates to construct.

VALUE:

new bootstrap object with additional replicates. The component B in the result is a vector concatenating the previous B and B.add.

DETAILS:

If the original call to bootstrap was interrupted, incomplete results saved in .bootstrap.partial.results; this may be updated, but you must manually change the seed.end component to a legal seed argument first.

update.bootstrap no longer adds samples -- use addSamples instead. update now can be used to modify or add arguments when calling bootstrap. This is consistent with update in other contexts.

EXAMPLES:

temp <- bootstrap(stack.loss, mean)
temp2 <- addSamples(temp, B.add=400)

# Demonstrate updating after an interrupt
# Interrupt this next call after 200 replications or so:
temp3 <- bootstrap(stack.loss, mean, seed=temp$seed.start)
temp3 <- .bootstrap.partial.results
dummy <- resamp.get.indices(temp3) # to update .Random.seed
temp3$seed.end <- .Random.seed # manually change seed.end
temp4 <- addSamples(temp3, B.add=1400-temp3$B)
all.equal(temp2, temp4) # same except for call
