Halibut Data

SUMMARY:

A list containing two time series, annual catch per unit effort (CPUE), and exploitable biomass of Pacific halibut for the years 1935 through 1989.

The list has the following components:

ARGUMENTS:

cpue
the catch per unit effort in pounds of halibut per skate. A skate is 1800 feet of line with baited hooks attached at 18 foot intervals. The data are independent observations.
biomass
an estimate of the exploitable biomass in millions of pounds. The time series is estimated from a nonlinear least squares fit to annual measures of catch stratified by age and total effort.
