Create Categories Dialog Function
DESCRIPTION:
This function is used by the Create Categories dialog.
USAGE:
menuCreateCategories(xname, col, numuse, nbin, numby, cutpoints,
factorlevels, newlevel, newcol="<END>",
show.p=.Options$show.data.in.view)
REQUIRED ARGUMENTS:
- xname

data set containing the column on which to base categories.
- col

column on which to base categories.
OPTIONAL ARGUMENTS:
- numuse

character string
"Binning"
,
"Cut Points"
, or
"Unique Values"
,
indicating how intervals are specified.
- nbin

number of bins. Used when
numuse="Binning"
.
- numby

character string
"Range"
,
"Log Range"
, or
"Count"
indicating the
method for binning points. Used when
numuse="Binning"
.
- cutpoints

values specifying ends of categories. Used when
numuse="Cut Points"
.
- factorlevels

levels of factor variable to combine. Used when
col
is a factor.
- newlevel

name for new level. Used when
col
is a factor.
- newcol

name for new column.
- show.p

logical indicating whether to display the data set in a Data window.
VALUE:
data set with new factor column added.
